New Solutions: IPL hair removal for Safe, Gentle, Permanent Hair Reduction

Advanced light therapy and light sources are rapidly changing hair removal treatment, providing gentle, non-invasive and long-lasting solutions to unwanted hair. The Intellibrite System provides a safe, effective solution for both men and women. The IPL machine uses targeted flashes of light to block the re-growth potential of the hair follicle. Our permanent IPL hair removal treatments do not damage surrounding tissue, and targets numerous hair follicles simultaneously, allowing for the treatment of large areas quickly and effectively.

Do IPL hair removal Treatments Hurt?

Our treatments for IPL hair removal may cause some minor discomfort — patients sometimes describe it as a slight tingling. Most patients tolerate the procedure well and although topical anaesthesia is rarely required, it may be an option when treating more sensitive areas.

How long do Hair Removal treatments last? How many will I need?

IPL hair removal sessions can vary in duration, depending on the size of the area being treated. The number of treatments required depends on several factors related to specific skin types and colour, thickness and density of hair. We aim to treat the hairs which are in the active growth phase (anagen), therefore making the treatment effective. The anagen phase is the active, growing phase. The catagen and telogen phases are dormant 'resting' phases. IPL affects only hairs in the anagen phase. Since all hairs are not in this phase at the same time, several treatments are necessary to achieve the best results.

What to Expect After Treatments for IPL hair removal at the Hannah Clinic.

The appearance of the treated area immediately following a hair removal session will vary from each individual, though side effects are rare. Any swelling or redness at the treatment sites settle within a couple hours, and most people are able to return to normal activity immediately. Best of all, many of the unwanted hairs are gone at the end of the treatment.

Are light treatments safe for all skin and Hair types?

Yes, this technology can be used effectively to treat unwanted hair on all skin types, including dark-skinned individuals of African, Mediterranean or Asian descent, as well as those patients with tanned skin.

How much time is there between sessions for IPL hair removal?

Follow up sessions are scheduled when the hair begins to re-grow. Naturally the timing for this can vary from four to eight weeks, as this depends on the hair type and the part of the body being treated. On average, appointments are scheduled four to six weeks apart.
